ACLU of Vermont

The people of Vermont believe in equal access to justice.
In a recent poll for instance, 3 out of 4 Vermonters supported ending qualified immunity.
Meanwhile, the ACLU of Vermont, in partnership with other local civil rights groups, has released a 10-part plan for police reform, addressing the public safety needs of all Vermonters. The first item on the list? Ending qualified immunity.
Firstly, the ACLU of Vermont knows that far from protecting good cops who follow the rules, qualified immunity actually shields rogue officers who think they’re above the law.
Secondly: They know that ending qualified immunity will advance racial justice and curb police violence.
And above all, they know that limiting the unchecked power of the police will expand people’s access to justice.
