Late on March 3rd, the House of Representatives passed a police reform package. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act would end qualified immunity if signed into law.
As reported by all major news outlets, the House passed the police reform bill along party lines. Supporters say the bill targets police brutality and addresses systemic racism in law enforcement. Reforms include banning chokeholds and overhauling qualified immunity.
The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act already has the White House’s support. It now heads to the Senate for consideration.
